Early Matchless SC-30s are a benchmark of the Boutique Gear WORLD. They are the Lentz Strat/Tele or Murphy LP of amps.  Standards against which all else are judged.  Back when the company first went out of business I accumulated walls and walls of every variety of Matchless I could find.   I can safely say I’ve owned as many as most people have ever seen.   The SC-30 is the variety that stands out among all the models.

They have a certain girth that Vox and Bruno and the new entrants just can’t capture.  These things just freaking deliver.  I have had this in my collection because it’s just the amp I SHOULD be playing….so often we gravitate toward the amp/guitar we are guilted into playing because of peer pressure.  THIS is the amp that sounds best.  Period.

So pony up and get a clean smoke free version that was in a studio where it made music.  The studio is renowned for selecting amazing gear…this is no exception.
